Entries include past criminal history; date of order confining them in the State Reformatory; age, nativity, and nationality; names of closest relatives; family history; personal history; physician's report at time of confinement and at time of departure; vocational assignment while confined; and criminal history following departure.

- This series documents the disciplinary movement of incarcerated individuals into and out of the institution's guardhouse where they were confined in isolation. Entries include consecutive number, surname of the incarcerated individual, date received in guard house, name of receiving officer, date released from guard house, and name of physician for daily visit. In some instances, remarks such as "sent to hospital" or reduced "to 3rd grade," (loss of privileges and temporary ineligibility for parole) are recorded.

- This series consists of statistical reports documenting activities of the Clinton Prison Classification Clinic. Reports give the numbers of: classified inmates, unclassified inmates, inmates interviewed for purposes other than classification or parole, inmates interviewed by psychiatrist for preparation for parole, inmates under observation, inmates transferred to state hospital on account of insanity, inmates placed in observation during month on account of peculiar conduct, inmates transferred to Napanoch and to Albion, and of reports done for parole, clemency, and selective service.

- This volume, kept for the auditing and accounting purposes of the New York House of Refuge, documents the receipts and disbursements of the Industrial Department. - These volumes contain contractual agreements between the reformatory managers, inmates, and employers for indentured labor or apprenticeships. Contracts specified the employer must teach a trade, literacy and arithmetic; provide food, clothing, shelter, and, end of the apprenticeship terms. Inmates could not be hired out and the agreement could be not canceled without reformatory's consent. Contracts include agreement date; master's name, address, and occupation; inmate's name, age, case number; the type of trade to be taught; and apprenticeship duration.

- These volumes, kept for the auditing purposes of the New York House of Refuge's Finance Committee and Executive Committee, document the expenses incurred by the Industrial Department. Following the legislative prohibition of prison contract labor, the institution in 1888 effected a major reorganization and expansion of industrial and mechanical trades education. Payments were made to payroll, the Industrial Education Association, and other organizations and private individuals; however, except in the case of payroll, there is no indication of what the payments were for.
