Summary
- These registers report summary information on incarcerated individuals committed to state correctional institutions and selected county penitentiaries each month. Information is handwritten in columns on preprinted pages which were later bound into volumes for each year. Monthly reports from each institution provide the following information: name of incarcerated individual; county where convicted; crime; court; judge; date of sentence; date received at prison; term; and remarks (such as previous prison terms).

- This series consists of pre-parole case files of prisoners held at Adirondack Correctional Treatment and Evaluation Center and its predecessor, Clinton Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Files contain inmate's photograph, fingerprints, and summary personal and and criminal history data. Also included are a summary of the inmate's tenure at the institution; pre-parole interview transcript; employment offers; district attorney parole recommendation; and evaluation reports.

Summary
- This series consists of correspondence and forms compiled by Protestant Chaplains at other prisons while conducting interviews to determine religious affiliation for inmates who ultimately resided at Dannemora State Hospital. Many files contain a full-face photograph of the inmate as well as biographical information similar to the intake registers. The forms also include observational notes on the inmate's current behavior, prognosis and possible actions to be taken. Some files give more detail on religious beliefs. Records are restricted.

- This series consists of records concerning inmate supervision: weekly punishment reports; intradepartmental communications; memorandums and affidavits from internal investigations of alleged prisoner abuse; library statistics and reports; roll calls for prison employees; schedules for weekly assignments; case reports; Adjustment Committee minutes; employee suggestion forms; employee reports suggesting psychiatric help for inmates; prisoner protective custody requests; and messages from prisoners concerning potential disturbances.

Summary
- This series consists of record cards which summarize the background and prison disciplinary record of inmates of Clinton Correctional Facility (known earlier as Clinton Prison). Most cards include a front-facing and profile photograph of the inmate. Inmate numbers extend from 12879 (inmate received in 1914) to 39999 (inmate received in 1964), with gaps. These records were maintained pursuant to a law of 1929 requiring a daily record to be kept of punishments inflicted on prisoners and of complaints by prisoners.

Summary
- This series consists primarily of microfilmed case records for approximately 3,000 incarcerated males, aged sixteen to twenty years old, processed through the Elmira Reception Center from 1945-1965. The case files represent a ten percent random stratified sample of all individuals processed through the facility and served as source documents for a study in recidivism made by the Department of Correction in 1967. The series also contains documentation of the Reception Center Research Project.

Summary
- This series consists of the monthly reports sent to the governor from each prison indicating incarcerated individuals eligible for discharge by commutation. The reports from all prisons for each year were bound into volumes. Each monthly report from each prison provides the following information: name; county; crime; court; judge; date of sentence; date received at prison; term; commutation earned; date eligible for discharge; amount of time lost for rule violations; and occasional remarks recommending increase or decrease in commutation.

- This series consists of notes from State Prison Inspectors about the Female Prison, Sing Sing, Clinton, and Auburn Prisons. Most entries deal with Sing Sing Prison. Topics include convict labor for hire, safety precaution measures, and the status of the staff including suspension and appointment of guards and keepers. Also included are newspaper clippings about convict labor for hire and a brief general summary of the Board of Parole meeting minutes. The volume is also available on microfilm.
