Scope and Content Note
This series consists of central subject files created and maintained by staff of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) and its predecessors. Types of records found in this series include correspondence, memorandums, architectural plans, financial statements, project proposals, publicity material, newsletters, brochures, studies, reports, and legal files. Topics addressed include housing developments and resident relations, commercial tenants, transportation issues, and historic structures.
B2741-19: This accretion consists of files created and maintained by staff of RIOC's predecessor, the Roosevelt Island Development Corporation (RIDC). Most records in this accretion document the years 1969-1982, when RIDC was a subsidiary of the New York State Urban Development Corporation. Also included are a small amount of records postdating this period, which were likely interfiled to maintain the central file's function as a reference source.
B2741-20: This accretion consists of files kept by a former records management officer of RIOC from 1982-2004. These files are mainly related to the administration, operation, and maintenance of Roosevelt Island. Records also reflect RIOC's administrative and fiscal support of separate entities such as the Friends of Roosevelt Island Landmarks, Inc.
