Administrative History
The New York State Science and Technology Foundation was created as a public corporation in April 1963 to support science and technology research around the state. It became the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR) in 1999. In the 2011-2012 State Budget, NYSTAR merged into Empire State Development, and a new Division of Science, Technology and Innovation was created.
