Scope and Content Note
This series contains admission and discharge information for boys enrolled at Berkshire Farm. Each entry includes first and last name, date admitted, home address, date of birth, farm number, reason for admission, and date of discharge. Also provided are the physical and mental conditions of the child, title and name of committing officer, amount received per capita, and name of person to whom discharged. More detailed information regarding parents is included in registers from the late 1880s: name, occupation, place of birth, and religion. Commencing in the 1960s, race and types of discharge (trial, regular, or administrative) are included. In the late 1990s, names in black ink refer to Residential Treatment Center residents; names in red ink refer to those enrolled in other institution programs.
