Summary
- Transcripts of dockets of judgments were filed in the office of the clerk of the Supreme Court of Judicature in New York City by the other clerks of the court. Transcripts for the Albany office start 1790; Utica, 1807; Canandaigua (later Geneva), 1829. Each entry includes the name of the party against whom judgment was obtained (usually defendant); name of the party in whose favor judgment was obtained (usually plaintiff); amounts of debt, damages, and costs; date of filing judgment; name of attorney for losing party; and date of satisfaction, if any.

Chronological by court term (through 1829) or semimonthly (starting 1830), then alphabetical by first letter of surname of judgment debtor, then chronological by date of docketing judgment.
Administrative History
Chapter 108 of the Laws of 1798 required the filing of transcripts of judgment dockets and this requirement was reenacted in the Revised Statutes of 1829 (Part III, Chapter 6, Title 4, Article 2). The Revised Statutes were in effect with numerous amendments until the Consolidated Laws were enacted in 1909.
