Administrative History
The office of Assistant Commissioner for Vocational and Extension Education was created in 1926 by the Board of Regents.
The Assistant Commissioner supervised the Division of Vocational and Extension Education and the Division of Rehabilitation. In the department reorganization of 1937, the Regents created the position of Associate Commissioner, who had general supervision over the three Assistant Commissioners for Instructional Supervision, Teacher Education, and Vocational and Extension Education. When Lewis A. Wilson was made Associate Commissioner he retained the title and duties of Assistant Commissioner for Vocational and Extension Education. The Regents offically made his title "Associate Commissioner and Acting Assistant Commissioner for Vocational and Extension Education."
