Scope and Content Note
This volume contains original pencil illustrations for Volume V of the Natural History of New York: Paleontology, written by James Hall and published in 1874. The drawings are of fossil specimens of radiata, crinoidea, and corals and are of extremely high quality. Presumably, these drawings were used to prepare the engravings used to print the volume. In the back of the volume are several loose papers dated 1904-1905 relating to the loan of specimens by the New York State Museum to staff members for study.
Custodial History
This volume was found in the State Archives stacks in 1986. Date of transfer is unknown.
