Scope and Content Note
This volume relates to the matter of a contested Assembly seat for the First Assembly District of Kings County.
In 1903 Edwin J. Chapman contested the right of John Hill Morgan to hold the First Assembly District seat in the Assembly. This transcript is of the hearings before the Assembly Committee on Privileges and Elections which made judgments in such contests. The transcript of the proceedings of the Committee provides: witnesses who appeared before the Committee; comments of the Assembly members on the Committee; etc. There is no apparent reason for this being in the Comptroller's Office, as there is no mention of the Comptroller or of any of the functions relating to the Comptroller in this hearing.
