This series consists of non-routine consent orders involving cases relating to hazardous waste; cases encompassing multiple Department of Conservation (DEC) regions; cases involving novel issues of policy or law; cases appearing to conflict with DEC policy; or cases involving sensitive or controversial issues. Each consent order includes a finding that a violation exists, remedial program description, compliance timetable, interim proposals, orders for the respondents to pay costs of a DEC investigation and subsequent remediation, penalties for non-compliance, and provisions for modifications or summary abatement orders.
16942-16: This accretion deals with DEC's efforts to remediate the St. Lawrence/Grasse River area, including restoration of natural resource damages (NRD), dated 1987-1990. The area is listed on New York State's Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites (Site 645015 in Massena, N.Y.).
