Scope and Content Note
The series consists of a card file index to numbered case files and transcripts of the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) formerly held by the Labor-Management Documentation Center, New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University. The index is divided into sections within these two categories. Each card shows a box number and an alphanumeric case/transcript code or range of codes. Case file sections are divided as: "A" files (arbitration) (no cards); "C" files (representation); "D" files (strikes); "E" files (management confidential); "I" files (implementation); "M" files (conciliation); "R" files (reprisal); "S" files and "U" files (unfair labor practice).
The part of the index for PERB transcript numbers includes sections for "C" files; "D" files; "M" files; "U" files; "Other" (Erie County, NYC Board of Education); "Counsel Office closed cases" and "PERB Counsel Records."
Processing Information
These cards index hundreds of boxes of PERB records accessioned by the New York State Archives from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations (Cornell accession #5140). Accession of the index, transferred to the State Archives in the early 1990s, resulted from a project by State Archives staff in 1997 to accession or integrate estrayed or unidentified records.
