Summary
- This series consists of maps of highways and other cultural and natural features in New York State counties outside New York City. Maps record state and county highways; construction contract numbers for state highways; Public Service Commission railroad grade elimination project numbers; dates of abandonment of state highways to counties, towns, or villages; courses of abandoned state highways and county boundaries. Some maps include additional information such as the projected routes of the Thruway and other limited access highways.

Scope and Content Note
The maps in this series depict highways and other cultural and natural features in every county of the state outside New York City. The maps contain the following data: state highways (in blue); county highways (in red); construction contract numbers for state highways (in black); Public Service Commission railroad grade elimination project numbers (in black); dates of abandonment of state highways to counties, towns, or villages; courses of abandoned state highways (black hatch marks); and county boundaries (in yellow).
The base maps are 1:62,500 scale U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps (7.5' quadrangles), cut up and mounted on cloth. Some maps have additional information, including the projected routes of the Thruway and other limited access highways.
