Scope and Content Note
The series consists of copies of records series inventories (form RM-14) and a few accompanying records disposition requests (form RM-5) submitted by various state agencies to the Office of General Services (OGS), which was in charge of the state's active records center storage facility. The forms were completed in response to a statewide survey carried out by OGS in 1975 to determine the total volume of records in agency custody. The completed forms constituted an inventory of each agency's records; after inventory the agency submitted appropriate disposition request forms to establish a more efficient and orderly records storage system.
Agencies for which completed forms are present include, but are not limited to, the Department of State; the State University of New York's central administrative offices; Department of Agriculture and Markets; Division of the Budget; Department of Environmental Conservation; Office for the Aging; Department of Transportation (map holdings); and the State Police.
