Administrative History
Comstock Hall, named after renowned entomologist and Cornell University professor John Henry Comstock, was constructed in 1912, originally to house the Department of Home Economics at Cornell University. In 1933, the Home Economics department moved out; the building was taken over in 1934 by the Department of Entomology. In 1985, a new building was designed for the Department of Entomology and the name of the former building was transferred to the new structure. Shortly thereafter, the old Comstock Hall was renovated and became the home of the Cornell Information Technologies Operations Unit. As of 2018, the old Comstock Hall housed the university's Computing and Communications Center.
