- This series consists of statistical and other information abstracted from school district trustees' reports or school district commissioner's reports. The abstracts generally concern smaller schools, usually located in rural areas of the state. Information includes statistical reports including school district number; town(s); buildings; property values; teacher numbers and qualifications; number of pupils; private schools; session length; violations of compulsory attendance law; district offices; and miscellaneous (number of inspections, sanitary facilities, and instruction subjects. Also included are detailed financial reports.

Administrative History
The Advisory Committee on New York State's Records System was appointed by the Commissioner of Education in 1946 "to review proposals and make recommendations concerning the functions of a State Records Office."
Scope and Content Note
Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports, and minutes of hearings related to the Department's coordination of the work of the Advisory Committee on New York State's Records System.
These records provide information on meetings of the advisory committee and conduct of the committee's work, history of the administration of New York's state government records, proposal and plans for a New York State Office, and hearings of the Temporary State Commission on Coordination of State Activities regarding public records.
