Scope and Content Note
This series consists of papers and photographs relating to National Guard service in New York State. The material in the series was gathered by Dr. Charles Duncan, a captain in the 1st Regiment of the New York Guards. The bulk of the material relates to Duncan's yearly participation in the Second Service Command Tactical School held in Hackettstown, N.J. from 1942 to 1944. Materials in this grouping include group photographs and typed lists of attendees, school agendas, menus, and correspondence. Also included in the series is a copy of "The Sightseer"(newsletter of the 6th Division), a photocopy of a photograph of a Civil War chapel built by the 50th New York Engineers with Duncan Family genealogical data noted on the verso, an unidentified group photograph, and a postcard depicting Battery B, 104th FA, New York National Guard.
