Scope and Content Note
This series consists of contract files for infrastructure work for Welfare Island Development Corporation and later for Roosevelt Island Development Corporation. At this time, the New York State Urban Development Corporation was responsible for the development of the island. Many contracts relate to routine issues such as streetlight maintenance or tree services. However, there are also early plans including the AVAC sanitation system, real estate marketing, and a contract with Louis Kahn for the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Records include correspondence, memorandums, contracts, vouchers, and other legal agreements.
