Scope and Content Note
This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation, and its predecessor organization, the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR). The foundation became part of the Empire State Development Corporation on April 1, 2011, and its websites were removed from the live Web shortly afterward. Their content was incorporated into the Empire State Development Corporation's main website. B2102-07: This accretion contains a copy of the New York State Office for Science, Technology and Academic Research's BioNY site produced on December 30, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about employment in the bioscience field, locations of bioscience research centers, developing and maintaining a bioscience-based business, and intellectual property, licensing, and resources for organizations interested in bioscience patents. Information about the grants awarded by the James D. Watson Investigator Program (2002-2006) and lists of biotechnology companies and life science academic programs in the state (2006) are also included. Researchers should note that the "Patents by Keyword" and "Patents by Region" links in the main menu do not work properly. This accretion also includes a December 26, 2006 copy of the office's NanoNY site. It contains press releases (2003-2006), information on nanotechnology grants awarded (2006), U.S. patents awarded to New York State individuals and organizations, nanotechnology briefing papers (2003-2006), and white papers on nanotechnology. Researchers are strongly encouraged to click on the "Non-Flash Version" link on the copy's home page before attempting to view any other page; doing so will reveal information that is not accessible in the Flash version of the site. Researchers should note that the "Nanotech Briefing Paper" link on the home page provides access to nanotech-related press releases (2003-2006) as well as briefing papers. Researchers should note that this site was removed from the live Web after this copy was produced. Owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, the Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research's main website could not be captured properly in late 2006. However, the December 26, 2006 copy of the NanoNY site includes some content found on the main site: summary information about the organization's mission, funding programs, and research and development centers. B2102-08: This accretion contains a copy of the main New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation site produced on May 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the foundation's mission and organizational structure; press releases (2000-2008); a photo gallery (2007-2008); foundation speeches and interviews (2001-2008); agendas and minutes of board and committee meetings (2008); the Funding Opportunity Newsletter (2008); annual reports (2004, 2007); and listings of industry and academic science research centers in New York State (2008). Researchers should note that owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly. In addition, researchers are strongly encouraged to click on the "Non-Flash Home" link that appears at the bottom of the home page before attempting to view any other page; navigational links that do not work properly in the Flash version of the site will work correctly in the non-Flash version. This accretion also contains a June 6, 2008 copy of the foundation's BioNY site. Most of the information contained within this copy is also included in the 2006 copy of the site, but this copy contains updated lists of biotechnology companies and life science academic programs in the state (2008). B2102-09: This accretion contains a copy of the main New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation site produced on January 9, 2009. This copy was produced because of a proposed merger of the foundation into the Empire State Development Corporation. Most of the information found within this copy is also present in the May 12, 2008 copy. Researchers should note that owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly. Researchers are also strongly encouraged to click on the "Non-Flash Home" link that appears at the bottom of the home page before attempting to view any other page; navigational links that may not work properly in the Flash version of the site will work correctly in the non-Flash version. This accretion also includes a January 9, 2009 copy of the foundation's BioNY site. Most of the content found within this copy is also present in the June 6, 2008 copy of the site. However, it does include a few additional press releases (2008) and researcher speeches and interviews (2008). B2102-10: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation Web site produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the foundation's mission and organizational structure, press releases (2000-2010), photo gallery, (2007-2010), foundation speeches and interviews (2001-2010), the Funding Opportunity Newsletter (2010), and listings of industry and academic science research centers in New York State (2010). Researchers should also note that the NYSTAR Board Information and Documents sections of the website will redirect the user to the live website. This accretion also includes a December 17, 2010 copy of the foundation's BioNY site. Most of the information found within this copy is also included in previous copies of the site, but this copy contains newer press releases (2009-2010), reports (2009-2010), and information about grants, life science researchers, funding opportunities, inventions, and bio patents (2010). B2102-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation Web site produced on March 30, 2011, two days before the foundation became part of the New York State Economic Development Corporation. Most of the information found in this copy of the site is also present in the December 20, 2010 copy; however, some additional press releases (2011) and foundation speeches and interviews (2011) are included. Researchers should note that owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly. In addition, researchers are strongly encouraged to click on the "Non-Flash Home" link that appears at the bottom of the home page before attempting to view any other page; navigational links that may not work properly in the Flash version of the site should work correctly in the non-Flash version. Researchers should note that the NYSTAR Board Information and Documents sections of the website may attempt to redirect the browser to the live website. This accretion also includes a March 30, 2011 copy of the foundation's BioNY site. Most of the information that is included in this copy of the site is included in the December 17, 2010 copy; however, this copy does contain some additional information about grants, life science researchers, funding opportunities, inventions, and patents (2010-2011).
