Scope and Content Note
This series consists of subpoenas from the Supreme Court ordering the Secretary of State to produce certain records filed in his office and summonses from the same court served on the Secretary of State or other officials of his office. Both types of documents identify the name of the case, the location and type of court session, as well as the presiding judges. The subpoenas name the records requested and specify the time and place that they must be delivered. The summonses contain the name of all defendants, and their official titles, and a copy of the plaintiff's complaint, which outlines in detail his or her reasons for bringing suit against the defendants. The summonses also specify the period of time the defendants have to answer the plaintiff 's complaint. The series consists of a very small number of documents arranged in no discernable manner.
