Summary
- This series contains accounts, vouchers, receipts, bills, financial statements and other records of state agencies and officials relating to their expenses.. Included are: expenses during and debt after the Revolutionary War ca. 1780-1800; claims against the State by widows of loyalists whose estates were confiscated by legislative act, and petitions by purchasers of forfeited estates to extinguish claims against the estates.

Administrative History
By the 1797, state officials and agencies were to account to the comptroller for any state money they spent, and to make compensation for money they owed to the state.
Scope and Content Note
This series contains records of expenses of state agencies and officials. The records consists of salary payments, fees, and office expenses such as travel expenses and office equipment. Include are vouchers; receipts; bills; auction sale accounts; bonds; financial statements of localities; bills of sale; agreements; cancelled checks, inventories; leases; loans; and other financial records.
