Scope and Content Note
This series contains the "core documents" (background reports on issues being considered) prepared by staff for each Committee meeting. Accompanying the core documents are the approved minutes of the meeting. Included among the core documents are scholarly articles, Committee staff background and position papers, newspaper clippings, draft reports, statistical compilations, and draft legislation. These documents contain information on such criminal justice topics as reduction of sentences based on "good time," crime classification, current sentencing practices, time actually served by convicts, and sentencing practices in other states.
The minutes are a fairly detailed presentation of what occurred at each Committee meeting. They contain the names of those attending each meeting; discussion of Committee contacts with other organizations (e.g. New York Bar Association); discussions of sentencing and other criminal justice issues; and the final determinations of the Committee on the content and scope of its reports and proposed legislation.
