Scope and Content Note
The series consists of the working files of the Division of the Budget Golden Anniversary Committee or The 50th Anniversary Committee. The committee, earlier called the Committee to Develop and Carry Out a Program to Commemorate the Budget's 50th Birthday, was chaired by Dr. T. Norman Hurd. The History Subcommittee (Bob Kerker, head) was to prepare a written history of the Division of the Budget entitled "The Executive Budget New York State." The book was to be 60-75 pages in length and consist of five main chapters, each dealing with a distinguishable period in the division's history. It was to be written for an audience consisting of persons in the Budget Division and other serious students of budgeting.
The series includes agenda and minutes of committee meetings, reports to the committee, memorandums, background papers, proposals for seminars, sketches for logos, related correspondence, draft copies of the book, purchase order for printing, distributions plans, orders for copies of the book, and other related material.
