Scope and Content Note
This series contains black-and-white photographic prints and the final report for construction of the Tuscarora Power Plant (now known as the Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Station) in the Niagara River gorge, which was completed in 1961. These records were created by the "Tuscarora Contractors," an entity made up of three firms that contracted with the Power Authority of the State of New York to build the plant: the Arundel Corporation (Baltimore, MD), L.E. Dixon Company (San Gabriel, CA), and Hunkin-Conkey Construction Company (Cleveland, OH).
The bulk of the series consists of the contractor's final report for the Tuscarora Power Plant with supporting black-and-white photographic prints, instructions for contractors and sub-contractors, job site plans and drawings, graphs, and labor agreements. The report is titled, "Final Report Niagara Contract N-10 Tuscarora Power Plant Lewiston, N.Y." It contains, at the front, a subject matter index and letter from project manager E.E. Snyder of the Tuscarora Contractors to the three aforementioned companies. The report is divided into two sections: "General," which contains the contract, specifications, personnel instructions, photographs, job site plan, and information for sub-contractors; and "Construction Operations," which contains similar types of records on such matters as excavation, site improvements, concrete, structural steel, and general expenses.
Other Finding Aids
