Scope and Content Note
This series consists of press releases predominantly issued by the Adirondack Park Agency's public relations officer. The majority of these press releases focus on business conducted by the agency at its monthly meetings. Press releases announce upcoming meetings, summarize meeting agendas, and report on actions taken by the agency at recent meetings. Examples of agency business documented in these press releases include selection of sites for the Visitor Interpretive Centers, revision of the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan, review of municipal land use programs, mapping of wetland areas within the Adirondack Park, review of proposed land use and development projects, and monitoring of pesticide and road salt use within the Adirondack Park.
Additional press releases announce public hearings and informational sessions, as well as other newsworthy agency activities such as commemoration of the Adirondack Park Centennial, recruitment of top-level agency staff, compilation of the Adirondack Park Big Tree Register, and completion of environmental studies. The remainder of the series consists of press releases issued by the Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Centers (VIC) located at Paul Smiths and Newcomb, New York. These press releases contain announcements of the centers' groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, announcements of upcoming festivals and public programs, requests for volunteers, VIC chronology and fact sheets, and other information concerning the design of the facilities.
