This series contains correspondence, background reports (including drafts), notes, clippings, printed programs, and articles concerning efforts to preserve Martin Van Buren's Kinderhook home, Lindenwald, as a public historic site.
Much of the correspondence is between the State Historian and officers of the Association for the Preservation of "Lindenwald," and the Columbia County Historical Society. It concerns the site itself, associated artifacts, and attempts to introduce legislation enabling the state to purchase the property.
