The series consists of four subseries: Legislation, Special Legislative Problems, Committees and Commission File, and Assorted State Documents.
Subseries 1, Legislation, 1953-1970: Consists of bills introduced by Senator Anderson, memoranda and explanatory statements, correspondence with state government officials and individuals and groups, and a few of Anderson's speeches. There are also copies of related resolutions and bills introduced by other legislators. Many of the bills relate directly to issues facing Broome County.
Subseries 2, Special Legislative Problems, 1961, 1963: Consists of bills, memoranda, correspondence, and public statements related to the special legislative session dealing with New York City Schools in August 1961, and the general issue of Home Rule in 1963. The subseries also includes correspondence and drafts of speeches from Anderson's participation in a WCBS-TV program on Home Rule, June 18, 1963.
Subseries 3, Committees and Commission File, 1953-1965: Consists of correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports, minutes of meetings, transcripts of hearings, clippings, speeches, and drafts of bills that Anderson accumulated while a member of state commissions, Senate committees, and joint legislative committees. Records of note include the New York State Flood Control Commission's large maps of Broome County properties and waterways and the Temporary Commission of the Revision of the Penal Law and Criminal Codes' special report on capital punishment.
Subseries 4, Assorted State Documents, 1960-1970: Consists of hearings, reports, studies, manuals, and resolutions issued by various state agencies, committees, and commissions.
