Scope and Content Note
This series is a handwritten, single bound volume listing canal statutes passed in New York between 1874 and 1895. This listing was an in-house reference tool generated most likely either by the State Engineer and Surveyor, Canal Fund Commission, Canal Commissioners, Canal Board, or Department of Public Works.
The title page of the volume declares that "this list is intended to be a full index to all statutes of a public nature which have been enacted in relation to the Canals of this State and of Concurrent Resolutions of the Legislature relating thereto; and including all items in general appropriation acts which contain small items for Canal expenses--also all private claim bills for the relief of Claimants and Contractors."
