Administrative History
The first of the Annual Exhibitions or "fairs" was held in 1908, in part to provide incentive for improved agricultural production. Inmates staged exhibits of livestock, agricultural products, and manufactured goods, and prizes were awarded to individual inmates or colonies in various competitive categories.
Scope and Content Note
Two softcover volumes and several loose sheets provide: year of exhibition; names of colonies; competition categories (e.g. horses, poultry, vegetables, industrial arts); number of points awarded to each colony in each category; total points for each colony; and individuals and colonies awarded specified prizes.
Custodial History
The Department of Social Welfare placed these records on loan to the Syracuse University Library from 1960 to 1977.
