Senator George Onorato, a Democrat, was first elected to the Senate in a 1983 special election and retired in December 2010. He represented the 12th Senate District, which consists of all or part of the Queens neighborhoods of Ditmars, Steinway, Astoria, Ravenswood, Queensbridge, Dutch Kills, Long Island City, Woodside, Sunnyside, Maspeth, and Ridgewood. He chaired the Standing Committee on Labor (2009-2010) and served as Assistant Majority Leader/Liaison to the Executive Branch (2009-2010).
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of archival copies of the official website of Senator George Onorato. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate website and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.
B2245-06: This accretion consists of an archival copy of Senator Onorato's official website produced on December 22, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information, photographs, a district map, and press releases (2003-2006) concerning legislation Senator Onorato sponsored, city and state government employment opportunities, and other matters of interest to Senator Onorato's constituents. An end of legislative session report to constituents (2005) is also included.
B2245-08: This accretion consists of a copy of Senator Onorato's official website produced on June 12, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information, photographs, a district map, and press releases (2008) concerning a proposed settlement relating to a 2006 power outage in western Queens, the resignation of Governor Spitzer, and other matters of interest to Senator Onorato's constituents.
Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page.
