Scope and Content Note
A4526-95: Microfilmed records in this series document a wide variety of services and activities performed by the local government of the Town of Shandaken. Several record types are included, such as tax assessment rolls (1951-1992); local laws; elections results (1937-1977); list of registered voters (1936-1966); school district tax assessment rolls (1932-1943) and other records relating to the school tax; burial permits (1915-1919); highway books (1836-1990); ledgers (1934-1987); planning board maps; annual reports, audits, and budgets (1945-1992); and town clerk's record and minute books (1787-1992).
Other microfilmed records are Village of Pine Hill board of trustees minute book (1961-1986); tax assessment rolls (1979-1985); and other village records. The Village of Pine Hill was dissolved in 1986, and its permanent records were transferred to the clerk of the Town of Shandaken.
A4526-96: This accretion contains the following records for the Town of Shandaken: records of chattel mortgages (1878-1966); registry of short term notes; cash book for the Town Clerk; records of highways; highway account time books (1932-1954); and other historical papers and documents.

Custodial History
This microfilm was produced by a grant awarded and administered by SARA's Local Government Records Services for the 1994 grant cycle. Grantees submitted two copies of each roll of project film: a silver copy for secure storage at the State Records Center; and a duplicate copy, containing only non-restricted records, for public use at the State Archives research room.
Use copies of rolls containing restricted records are not maintained by the Archives, and are withdrawn from public use at time of accessioning. Security copies of such rolls are held at the State Records Center and are subject to restrictions under law.
A4526-95:Restricted film was marked and use copies were weeded at time of accession; 61 rolls of master negatives (security copy) were sent to the State Records Center (TL 95-167, 168).
A4526-96:Restricted film was marked and use copies were weeded at time of accession; no copies of master negatives (security copy) were received from the local government.
