This series consists of one bound volume containing letters of transmittal, agreements, typed copies of legislative bills, correspondence, maps, deeds of conveyance and dedications, and a printed copy of "Circular and Instructions of the New York Board of Commissioners, Gettysburg Monuments...."
The majority of the records in the volume pertain to land conveyed and dedicated for the purpose of erecting monuments and markers showing the location of various New York military units during the battle of Gettysburg on July 1-3, 1863. Included is a map (in color), entitled "Map of Gettysburg and Vicinity Showing Positions of New York Regiments and Batteries," which was apparently produced ca. 1887-1890 for the New York State Gettysburg Monument Commission. The Commission worked with the Gettysburg Battlefield Memorial Association to secure land on which New York monuments could be erected.
A letter of transmittal, maps, a deposition, and a deed of conveyance and dedication pertaining to land in Hamilton County, Tennessee, where the battles of Wauhatchie and Lookout Valley were fought in October 1863, are found at the end of the volume.
