Administrative History
In November 1979, at the direction of the New York State Olympic Task Force and the Lake Placid Organizing Committee, the Department of Commerce was given the primary responsibility of providing information services and hospitality facilities to spectators, business executives, dignitaries, and foreign officials visiting Lake Placid during the games. The basic components of the department's program were: Information and Hospitality; Business Center and Airport Reception; and Press and Public Relations on Behalf of New York State.
