Scope and Content Note
Each "certificate of registry" gives: name of owner; owner's residence; type of boat; boat's tonnage; name of boat; and designated hailing place. On the reverse are given year, boat name, and hailing place, with certificate by a collector of tolls that the name has been painted on the boat according to law. Filing of the certificate with the Comptroller, obtaining the certificate of toll collector, and painting of name were required by Chapter 219 of the Laws of 1827.
