Administrative History
Senator William T. Stachowski, a Democrat, was first elected to the Senate in 1980. He represented the former 56th Senate District (1981-2002) and the 58th Senate District (2003-2010). The 58th Senate District consists of the Towns of Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Harrisburg, and Eden, the City of Lackawanna, and part of the City of Buffalo, all of which are in Erie County. Senator Stachowski chaired the Standing Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of an archival copy of Senator Stachowski's official website that was produced on June 13, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains biographical information; photographs; a district map; and press releases (2008) regarding Senator Stachowski's sponsorship of legislation concerning prescription drug coverage for health maintenance organization enrollees, financial disclosures in future legislation relating to the public employee retirement system, and slot machine revenues from the Buffalo Creek Casino.
Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, most of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
Researchers should also note that Senator Stachowski apparently did not have an official website in 2006 and that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate website; the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web at that time.
