Scope and Content Note
The series consists of a partial log of activities of the office staff of the commission (along with a tally of office expenses) which was apparently kept by the commission's secretary, Richard Neustadt. Although set up as a daily log (beginning date September 3, 1913; ending date January 1, 1914), the volume contains only scattered entries.
There are entries for September 23 to September 30, and October 1 to October 5, 1913. Entries are found under such headings as work (e.g., "answered mail"); phones (incoming and outgoing calls); calls or reports by staff; and notes of interviews, meetings, and conferences attended.
A separate section toward the end of the volume labeled "Financial Accounts" lists (and totals) daily office expenditures, bills and salaries for September, October, November, and December 1913, and for January of 1914.
All entries are in the manuscript hand of Mr. Neustadt, and the title page bears his signature with the inscription "Our Acts Our Angels Are."
