The Temporary State Commission to Study the Organizational Structure of the Government of the City of New York was created to make a study of the government of the City of New York which was to include, but not be limited to: the structure and organization of the municipal government and the changes that may have been required to bring about economy and efficiency in its operations and improved management of its affairs; suitability of the city management plan of the municipal government or modification thereof; changes in provisions of the city charter, administrative code and other laws which may have been necessary or desirable for the attainment of economy and efficiency and improved management; and such other studies, inquiries, survey, or analyses as the members of the commission may have deemed relevant.
The commission consisted of nine menders and was instructed to make a report of its studies and recommendations to the governor and State Legislature. The second and final report was made February 1, 1954.

Custodial History
Records were apparently collected by Dr. William Miller, Princeton University economist and tax policy expert who provided input as a consultant to the Commission.
