Scope and Content Note
J2002-02: Eight volumes pertain to a case involving the Clinton Woolen Manufacturing Company and its agent, Thomas Sharp. Volumes span the years 1821-1829 and include several day books, records of cloth made and sold (many customers were women), and records of workers' time and attendance. Two volumes are day books, 1818-1830, of the firm of Parmelee & Meldrum, who operated a brewery at Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County. The remaining volume in this accession is a ledger of an unidentified general store, 1827-1829.
J2020-19: Volumes include financial journal of a New York City investor in rental properties, 1787-1792; day book of a business in farm produce and livestock, 1811; cash book of a New York City insurance agent, 1825-1826; and cash book of a flour mill in Hudson, Columbia County, 1820, 1828-1831.

Processing Information
Upon transfer to the State Archives in 1982, most of these exhibits were originally accessioned as part of series J0061. In 2002 the exhibits were separately accessioned as series J2020. Additional volumes were accessioned as part of series J4000 in 1982 and were added to this series in 2019 to form a consolidated collection of Chancery exhibits found among records transferred by the Court of Appeals in 1982.

The Court of Appeals placed these records on deposit at the Historical Documents Collection, Queens College, from 1973-1982.
