Senator Raymond A. Meier, a Republican, was elected to the Senate in 1996 after serving as Oneida County Executive (1991-1996). He represented the 47th Senate District, which consists of most of Oneida County and eastern St. Lawrence County. He co-chaired the bipartisan Task Force on Medicaid Reform (2003) and chaired the Standing Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs (1997-1999) and the Standing Committee on Social Services and Children and Families (2005-2006).
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of an archival copy of the official website of Senator Raymond A. Meier produced on December 21, 2006, shortly before Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains biographical information, photographs, and a district map. Press releases (2000-2006) concerning state funding for local projects and programs, child welfare legislation, reform of the state Medicaid program, and other matters of interest to Senator Meier's constituents are also included.
