Summary

Administrative History
The State Board of Elections receives, reviews, and audits campaign finance statements and makes them available to the public as part of its responsibility to administer the election process and enforce the Election Law and its regulations. Candidates for all statewide offices and their committees are required to file financial statements, and the Board may assess and collect fines for violation of filing provisions.
Scope and Content Note
The series contains campaign finance records filed by candidates for statewide elective office and the organizations supporting them (including political action committees). Records include financial disclosure statements for both campaign organizations and candidates, and campaign receipts that are required to be filed with the State Board of Elections.
Records are arranged according to the following codes (corresponding to the type of candidate record): PACs (political action committees), filed alphabetically by name of committee; STW (statewide), filed alphabetically by name of organization; SEN (Senate), filed by district number (1-61) and therein alphabetically by candidate name; AD (Assembly District), filed by district number (1-150) and therein by candidate name; GOV, LT. GOV, COMPT, ATT GEN (governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller, attorney general), filed alphabetically by name of candidate; PARTY (party or constituted committee), filed by name of Republican or Democratic state committee, citizen group, or other campaign committee; and JD (judicial district), filed by district number (1-12) and therein alphabetically by name of candidate.
15004-88: This accretion contains the earliest surviving campaign finance statements filed with the State Board of Elections for statewide elective offices, members of the Legislature, Supreme Court justices, political party committees, and political action committees (PACs). There are filings for governor, lieutenant-governor, attorney general, and comptroller, 1978-1982; political party committees, 1979-1984, almost all dating 1979-1981; Assembly districts, 1976-1983, almost all dating 1980-1981; Senate districts, 1976-1982, almost all dating 1980-1981; Supreme Court judicial districts, 1976-1984, almost all dating 1979-1981; and political action committees, 1978-1984, most dating 1980-1981.
15004-99: This accretion consists of political campaign financial disclosure statements for the calendar year 1993. Individual folders may include the January, 1994 reports as well as any prior reports not previously submitted to the Board of Elections, and any reports for special elections held in 1993.
15004-00: This accretion consists of the 1994 campaign financial report statements in the following categories: political action committees (PACS); statewide office; assembly, senate, and judicial. In addition, the 1992 state party reports are included.
15004-01: This accretion consists of the 1995 campaign financial report statements in the following categories: political action committees (PACS); statewide office; assembly, senate, and judicial. Also included are the 1994 county reports and party statements for 1993-1995.
15004-02: This accretion contains statements for the year 1996.
