Scope and Content Note
The commissioner creates, receives, and retains a variety of correspondence, memorandums, reference materials, draft and final policy statements, and budget materials related to all aspects of agency operations.
This accretion consists of a portion of the subject and correspondence files of former Commissioner Orin Lehman. Of special note is a folder of correspondence with Robert Moses which appears in box 2.
19606-01: This accretion consists of a portion of the subject and correspondence files of former Commissioner Joan K. Davidson. A small amount of records from the beginning of Bernadette Castro's tenure as commissioner are also included. Noteworthy records include reports and correspondence pertaining to the 1994 gubernatorial transition. A significant portion of the accretion pertains to the Hudson River Park Conservancy. A subsidiary of the New York State Urban Development Corporation, the conservancy was incorporated in 1992 by the governor and the mayor of the City of New York to assess, design, and build a new waterfront park along the Hudson River from Battery Park to 59th Street.
19606-11: This accretion contains a portion of the subject and correspondence files of former Commissioner Carol Ash. Included are files documenting Allegany mineral rights, 1998-1999.
19606-12: This accretion contains the subject and correspondence files of former Commissioner Bernadette Castro. Included are records relating to her tenure on various boards and task forces such as the Hudson River Park Trust, National Association of State Park Directors, and Governor's Task Force on Casino Gambling. The records also include meetings and files on individual legislators documenting contacts with them.
