Administrative History
The Division of Industrial Sciences and Technologies was responsible for coordinating activities and formulating policies in the New York State Department of Commerce relating to the development of environmental, energy, technology, and scientific industrial programs. Staff provided technical expertise to assist industries in following and solving various environmental and regulatory procedures and problems. They also advised the Governor's Office, State Legislature, State Environmental Board, State Energy Office, State Economic Development Board, Resource Recovery Implementation Committee, and other state agencies on matters such as science-oriented industries, applied research, water and air pollution, water resources, and pesticide control.
