Administrative History
The New York State French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission was established in 2004 (Chapter 707) to promote the 250th anniversary of the war, which occurred between 2005-2010. Its main focus was to plan and conduct an organized series of reenactment tourism events featuring the following historic sites and areas: Lake George/Fort George area in 2005; Fort Bull/Fort Stanwix and Fort Ontario/Oswego in 2006; Fort William Henry/Lake George in 2007; Fort Carillon/Ticonderoga in 2008; Fort Niagara in 2009; and Fort La Presentation/Fort Levis in 2010. Despite legislative attempts to extend it, the commission ceased its work in December 2010.

This series consists of photocopies of letters and newspaper clippings documenting the work of the New York State French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission.

Also included is a small amount of material related to the official national observation of the anniversary.
