Scope and Content Note
Accounts of taxes on incorporated companies, in five sewn booklets varying in content and format.
One booklet is labelled "Accounts of County treasurers relative to incorporated companies, 1825" and gives names of companies (arranged by county), amount of stock owned by individuals resident in that county, and amount of tax; this is a working copy with many changes. There is another draft of the same. There is also a list of incorporated companies which neglected to make a return to the Comptroller in 1825 (includes notes on defunct or dissolved companies). There are two booklets for taxes on corporations for 1827; one gives, in addition to information listed above, the fees of the county treasurer and local collector of taxes and (for some companies) the legal valuation of the stock.
