The Oral History Project documents through oral history interviews, the careers of women who have served in the legislature since 1960. Administrative History
The Legislative Women's Caucus was formed in 1983 in order to serve as an advocate for programs and services that benefit women; to insure their full participation in government and politics; and to provide a network of support for women serving in the New York State Legislature.
Scope and Content Note
This accretion, the first group of a projected sixty tapes, consists of audio cassettes and typed transcriptions of interviews with seven women legislators. The Oral History Project is a program, undertaken with the assistance of Russell Sage College, which aims to document, through oral history interviews, the careers of those women who have served in the legislature since 1960.
