Scope and Content Note
This series contains letters sent by James F. Maury, Secretary of the Burnham Industrial Farm Board of Directors. Correspondence includes acceptance and rejection notifications for applicants to the school, acknowledgments of contributions and payment, notices of future meetings, notices of resolutions passed, requests for payment, and letters relating to other administrative matters. Correspondents include various members of the board of directors, donors to the institution, and parents of students.
Receipts, expenses, bank balances, meeting minutes, and notes recorded and/or collected by the secretary are inserted as loose sheets in the letterpress copybook. On the back of the book, the secretary kept a record of the dates and times of board of directors meetings and a list of members of the board from 1898 to 1913.
