Summary

Administrative History
Chapter 262 of the Laws of 1817 established the commissioners of the canal fund to administer a special funding source for canal development derived from canal tolls, other state revenues, and land donations. The commissioners managed both revenues and debts associated with the development of the state's canal system. The role of the commissioners was abolished along with the Canal Board in 1926.
