Scope and Content Note
This series consists of a microfilm copy of a card index of the names of people who were granted land (grantees) by the colonial government of New York prior to the American Revolution. This series indexes the colonial letters patent in New York State Archives Record Series 12943, Letters Patent.
The index cards include the names of grantees; date of the letters patent; book and page number of the letters patent; and location. The cards also include a short description of the land that can include names of adjoining landowners; street names; outbuildings; acreage; bodies of water; lot numbers; tract names; current location of land; and other similar descriptive information.
