Scope and Content Note
These records were created by the Office of Justice Systems Analysis for reporting crimes committed in New York. Part I of each report contains data on seven serious crimes (murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft). Data on the Part I offense is furnished to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) system for inclusion in their national Crime Index. The data is eventually transferred to NARA. For Part I, there is additional data on method, time of day, or location of crimes. There are supplemental reports on murder, manslaughter, and arson cases. There are also summaries for New York City, upstate, and statewide. There are summary reports of property stolen and recovered by type and value.
