This series consists of selected records removed from the Municipal Services Division's Director's and Assistant Director's files and transferred to the Department's archives. The complete series of files now exists only in microform in the custody of the Department of Civil Service.
The present series contains subject and correspondence files relating to local civil service matters such as the establishment of new titles and rules; annual summaries of municipal commission annual reports; Division annual reports; records relating to special committees and commissions concerning local civil service matters (e.g. New York Library Association Personnel Administration Commission 1959-1962, Library Examination Committee 1951-1957, Civil Defense Commission 1962). The series contains information on Division operations and their affect on local civil service agencies and practices.
