Summary
- This series consists of statistical summary reports of admissions to and discharges from county jails. Admission reports contain summaries of the number of offenses; formal committals; felon's age, sex, race, nationality, occupational skills, marital status, past prison record or reformatory history, parents, religion, habits; stolen property value; sentences; discharge information and report date. Discharge reports contain summaries of number discharged; offenses; discharge date; discharge mechanisms; time in prison; number remaining in jail and the number received since the last report.

Scope and Content Note
This series consists of two bound volumes containing statistical summary reports of admissions to and discharges from county jails, compiled for the Legislature by the Secretary of State. The statistical reports on admission contain summaries of: the number of offenses committed; the number of formal committals; the felon's age, sex, race, nationality, occupational skills, marital status, past prison record or reformatory history, parents, religion, habits (temperate or intemperate); the value of property stolen; sentences; how and when the individual was discharged; and the date of the report.
The statistical reports on discharges contain summaries of: the number discharged; the offense charged; the date of discharge; how the individual was discharged; time in prison; the number remaining in jail by the last report; the number received since the last report; and the number remaining in jail. The reports were compiled weekly between July 7 and August 18, 1866.
